Julián del Pozo y la Orden was a Spanish costumbrista painter born in Pedro Muñoz, Ciudad Real. His works are mainly watercolors and oil paintings of landscapes or streets of the places where he lived: Pedro Muñoz, Granada, Barcelona and its surroundings.
He trained at the Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving in Madrid, where he won the "Medal of Merit". Between 1882 and 1888 he settled in Granada. He managed to exhibit alone, something extraordinary at that time. In the exhibition held in the Carrera del Genil, he exhibited more than one hundred and seventy oil and watercolors. He was a member of the Centro Artístico y de Clase de Modelo. In 1888 he exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona, achieving so much success that he decided to settle there permanently. His pictorial style evolved over the years, from the orientalism of Granada to an impressionist style in his Barcelona period. It can be said that in Spain he was a pioneer in watercolor painted outdoors, giving importance to light and color and with a spontaneous brushstroke creating works of great beauty. He had a great predilection for nature: landscapes of all kinds, flora, rural world...
