Painter and scenographer, Francesc Soler i Rovirosa trained in Barcelona, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom. He settled in Paris for seven years, and worked both there and in Barcelona for important theaters of the time, creating scenographies. He preferably made sets for Wagner's works, and in 1881 he was appointed head set designer of the Teatro Lírico del Paseo de Gràcia, in Barcelona. Four years later he opened his own workshop, and later he was appointed consultant for the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888. He is currently represented at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, the Gran Teatro del Liceo, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona and the National Art Museum of Catalonia. Also, in the Museum of Scenic Art of Barcelona there is a room dedicated to his work.
