"Still lifes".

Cadiz painter of the 19th century specialized in genre painting. His work is little known. However, Enrique Rumoroso y Valdés was one of the Cadiz artists who traveled the most during the 19th century, reaching cities such as Cadiz, Seville, Madrid, or Paris among many others. In his genre paintings he used to portray the atmosphere of the fairs, and bullfighting scenes, always populated with popular types. In his pictorial technique we can appreciate a great mastery in the painting of fruit still lifes, as is the case, landscapes and portraits. Rumoroso stood out for a marked realism when representing fruits. His brushstrokes, short and vibrant, as well as an extremely precise drawing give a naturalistic character to his still lifes as can be seen in this pair of oil paintings. His way of presenting the grapes is very characteristic as well as the use of some other larger round fruit such as peaches, apricots, figs or apples. The background in complete semidarkness contrasts with a light that extends over the main scene from the upper left corner, and allows highlighting the forms to give them more emphasis and realism.
