Joaquín Terruella Matilla was a Catalan painter dedicated mainly to the landscape and to the scenes of gardens and urban corners, with a sensibility close to impressionism. His work stands out for its loose brushstrokes, attention to light and color, and a taste for natural motifs treated with intimacy.
In early pieces such as Rincón del parque (1910) we can already appreciate his interest in capturing quiet atmospheres and everyday spaces, within the Catalan landscape tradition of the early twentieth century.
