"View of Rome".

The view of Rome that now is tendered responds to the creative stay of Etienne Bosch in Italy, a period that enriched notably his artistic vision. It depicts a sunset scene by the Tiber River. In the foreground is a stone bridge with several arches -probably the Ponte Sant'Angelo- illuminated by lanterns that begin to light up. In the background stands out the great dome of St. Peter's Basilica, which dominates the city skyline. Small boats can be seen on the river, and the water reflects shades of green and gold from the sky and lights.
Etienne Marie Theodore Bosch was a multifaceted Dutch artist whose output encompassed painting, drawing, watercolor and graphic arts such as lithography and engraving. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Bosch developed an eclectic thematic repertoire that included genre scenes, urban and rural landscapes, still lifes and animalistic studies, as well as notable forays into religious iconography, such as his interpretation of the Head of Christ. His career was marked by creative stays in France and Italy, periods that enriched an artistic vision that he cultivated until his death in The Hague.
