This work reveals the refined technical mastery of Antonio Fabrés in the representation of the landscape and the atmosphere, with a precise brushstroke and a careful treatment of light that recalls the European naturalist tradition of the late nineteenth century. The balance between detail and spatial amplitude gives the composition a harmonious and evocative character, typical of the idealized views of the Italian countryside.

Trained at the Escuela de la Lonja in Barcelona and a disciple of Mariano Fortuny, Antonio Fabrés developed a large part of his career in Rome, where he achieved notable recognition. He later resided in Mexico, where he directed the Academy of San Carlos, exerting an important influence on the formation of artists of the following generation.

His work, characterized by great technical virtuosity and a marked naturalism, is preserved in institutions such as the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Museo Nacional de Arte de México and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, among others.
