The rural view changes here into a dreamy landscape. Short brushstrokes and superimposed layers of greenish and earthy colors blur the structure but without making it disappear, giving it a dreamlike texture that spreads through the atmosphere, enveloping us with its combination of textures and impossible ranges. In this rural view dated in the late 19th century, Hermann Baisch embarks on unexplored paths in atmospheric capture.
Hermann Baisch was a German painter and illustrator who specialized in landscapes and animal scenes and is considered to be one of the introducers in Germany of the French style of paysage intime. He initially trained in his father's lithography workshop and later studied art in Stuttgart, furthering his training in Paris, where he came into contact with the Barbizon school and painters such as Jules Dupré. He later worked in Munich and settled in Karlsruhe, where he taught animal painting and became head of the art academy. His work is characterized by the direct observation of nature, the use of light to ennoble simple scenes and the influence of plein air painting, making numerous landscapes in places like Holland and the Alps.
