Arthur Trevor Haddon was a British artist especially known for his scenes set in Spain, Italy and other Mediterranean enclaves, treated with an idealized and luminous vision highly appreciated by international collectors of the time. His works often combine historical architecture, popular scenes and elegantly characterized female figures, within a friendly and decorative atmosphere.

During this period, many British painters traveled throughout southern Europe, attracted by the light, color and exoticism of Spanish and Italian cities.
