DESCRIPTION
JOSÉ JULIANA ALBERT (San Esteban del Castellar, Barcelona, 1844 - Barcelona, 1890).

It has two patches on the back with old restorations.
Measurements: 85 x 65 cm; 94 x 74 cm (frame).
Formed in the School of Fine Arts next to the romantic painter José Serra y Porson, José Juliana extended his formation in Naples, ascribing to the Neapolitan pictorial school, and in Rome, being this last one the city in which he carried out the work that is presented. In 1866 he took part in the Fine Arts Exposition of Barcelona and the National Fine Arts Exposition of Madrid, with works of costumbrista themes, obtaining the third medal in the Spanish capital. Currently represented in the Museo Nacional del Prado and in various private collections, José Juliana usually depicts in his works outdoor scenes of costumbrista character, starring women doing their daily chores.
