Joan Brull displays in this painting a lyrical and delicate vision of nature, typical of his symbolist sensibility. The scene is constructed from a vaporous atmosphere, with a soft palette of greens, blues and pink tones, where the landscape seems more evoked than described. The female figure, located in the lower right, introduces a poetic and contemplative dimension, almost like an apparition within the environment.

The composition combines the verticality of the trees with the luminous amplitude of the sky and the architectural remoteness of the small temple, creating a sense of silence, reverie and recollection. Brull does not seek a strict naturalistic representation, but an image of ideal resonances, close to Catalan modernism and the symbolist painting of the end of the century.

Joan Brull studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and completed his studies in Paris with Raphaël Collin. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and London, and was awarded prizes in various editions of the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, as well as in the Paris Exhibition of 1900. Linked to the Catalan modernist environment and the gatherings of Els Quatre Gats, he also collaborated as a critic in the magazine Joventut. His work is represented in the Museo del Prado, the MNAC, the Museo de La Garrotxa and the Museo Art Nouveau y Art Déco Casa Lis, among others.
