Photographer, scholar and Spanish painter specialized in landscapes, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo (better known as Vascano) was director of La Correspondencia de España Ilustrada, deputy to Cortes for Cieza (Murcia), civil governor of Málaga and founder of the photographic gallery Dalton Kaulak of Madrid and of the magazine La Fotografía. After studying law in Madrid, he joined the studio of Carlos de Haes. He also collaborated assiduously in numerous publications, among others, La Época.
