This oil on canvas follows the sumptuous Italian Baroque tradition of decorative still lifes, combining an abundant and detailed arrangement of grapes, pears, peaches, and other fruits arranged in wicker baskets and pedestal-mounted bowls. The style is notable for its pronounced chiaroscuro and for opening up the composition toward the background with small scenic elements, such as the presence of wild birds to one side of the still life.
