DESCRIPTION
19th-century Spanish school.
“Landscape.”
Oil on canvas.
Damage to the frame.
Measurements: 47 x 56.5 cm; 71 x 80 cm (frame).
This painting depicts a landscape with a simple composition, featuring a small hill in the foreground and a path that we can make out thanks to the presence of the traveler with his back to us, disappearing into the thicket. The focus is thus on the treetops and the interplay of light and shadow—hallmarks that reinforce the spatial composition, preventing the viewer’s gaze from becoming distracted by excessive detail.
