The work is part of the Luminist and landscape movement that flourished in Spanish painting during the early decades of the 20th century, building on the renewal initiated by Plein Air painting and Impressionism and, particularly in the Mediterranean context, closely linked to the celebration of light and color. Here, the landscape ceases to be a strictly topographical representation and becomes an essentially luminous and atmospheric experience. The vast beach, the sea, and the mountains on the horizon are enveloped in a warm luminosity that unifies the composition, while the golden and pink reflections of the sun transform the landscape and gradually blur its contours.
