Dominated by an intimate and melancholic twilight atmosphere, this river landscape is linked to the Spanish landscape tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which was particularly interested in capturing the changing effects of light and an emotional vision of nature. The waterway, which faintly reflects the brightness of the sky, draws the eye toward a mist-shrouded horizon, while the bare trees cast their stylized silhouettes against a palette of grays, ochres, browns, and muted greens. The loose, expressive brushwork—particularly evident in the vegetation and reflections—prioritizes visual impression over meticulous detail.
