DESCRIPTION
ERNESTO PÉREZ ORÚE (Bilbao, 1897 - Pamplona, 1957).

Measurements: 40 x 40 cm; 52 x 52 cm (frame).
We see in this canvas an urban landscape of great modernity, built on the basis of synthesized forms and color, an anticlassical color, which changes and vibrates, transparent in some areas, pearly in others, denser in points of the foreground, settling the three-dimensional construction of space.
A Basque painter active during the first half of the 20th century, Ernesto Pérez Orúe also worked in sculpture and engraving, and participated in the youth section of the Association of Basque Artists. However, he retired early due to a serious illness that made it impossible for him to work and exhibit. He mainly cultivated Basque landscapes and types, focusing especially on coastal corners and scenes of fishermen. He is currently represented in the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum.
