Rafael Rodríguez Baixeras would move, when he was a child, to Ribadeo, where he had his first contact with drawing thanks to the art classes at school, where he would learn to paint with pastels and one of his teachers, seeing the boy's abilities, would encourage him to dedicate himself to the world of art. In 1956 he would move again, this time to Segovia: a different landscape, a very diverse chromatic range. As the artist himself would say: "If I am a good colorist it is because I have known many different landscapes, with their corresponding palettes: Galicia, Castile, the Mediterranean...". In Segovia he would continue with his art classes, although once he had completed his basic training he would enroll in Architecture at the University of Madrid, under pressure from his family. Finally, he managed to free himself from parental pressure and study Fine Arts. Although his work shows expressionist and surrealist roots, in the 70's he added references close to pop art. Together with Montoya and other artists, he formed the group "Seis y Cuatro", with whom he participated in the Sao Paulo and Paris Biennials. Throughout his career, unfortunately short, due to his untimely death at the age of 42, he alternated his artistic practice with teaching, giving classes at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Segovia. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Tarragona, León, Madrid, Sao Paulo, Havana, Lisbon, Paris, Washington, Miami and Santiago de Compostela. His work is present in the Museo Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo Reina Sofía or in the ABANCA Art Collection, among others.
