Ceramist and painter, Eusebi Díaz Costa was a disciple of Joan Colom, and began his artistic activity as a landscape painter. He began to make himself known in the twenties, and held individual exhibitions in Barcelona galleries such as El Camarín (1928), Galerías Layetanas (1929), Barcino (two exhibitions in 1933), Renart (1935, 1936), etc. Also, in October 1932 he held a personal exhibition in the city of Bogota. Díaz Costa also took part in international competitions, being awarded in the Venice Biennial of 1941 and in the International Exhibition of Cannes in 1955. In 1950 he settled in La Bisbal d'Empordà, where he worked and lived for the rest of his life, until his death in 1964. During these last fifteen years he dedicated himself to the production of artistic ceramics, inspired by traditional Catalan forms. In this field he was awarded second prize in the VII Provincial Art Competition of the Diputació de Girona. He is currently represented in the MACBA, as well as in various private collections.
