BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JOSEP MARIA ROVIRA BRULL (Barcelona, 1926 - Mataró, Barcelona, 2000).
"Locomotive", "Wagons".
Four oil paintings on canvas.
Signed.
Measurements: 80 x 129 cm; 82,5 x 132 cm. (frame, 1); 72 x 92 cm.75 x 94 cm.(frame, 3).
Trained at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Rovira Brull exhibited with the Gracienses Artists in 1948, attended the Salones de Octubre in Barcelona between 1954 and 1956, and in 1955 founded the group Sílex with Carles Planell, Eduardo Alcoy, Luis Terricabras and Joan Hernández Pijuan. Starting from a certain impressionism, his language evolved in a fantastic and tremendist line. As part of the Zen advertising team, he later evolved towards neoplasticism, to finally return to the fantastic style of his first period in 1975. He also worked as an illustrator, collaborating with publications such as "Tele-Estel", and held exhibitions in different cities in Europe and America.
