BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JOSÉ MOREA (Chiva, Valencia, 1951).
"Personages-portraits-portraits. Cannibal scene with fortuitous aggression", 1981.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed on the right side.
Measurements: 73 x 60 cm.
José Morea has participated in all the currents, passing through pop, abstraction and symbolism, until he reached a mature language characterised by a gestural painting of characteristic and brilliant chromatisms. He began to stand out in the seventies, and in the early eighties he obtained grants from the Ministry of Culture (1980 and 1984) and the Valencia City Council (1981). He made his solo debut in 1975, with an exhibition held at the Official College of Architects of Valencia and Murcia. During the following years he continued to hold individual exhibitions in important galleries all over Spain, such as the Juana de Aizpuru in Seville, the René Métras in Barcelona and the Sen in Madrid. In 1986 he made the international leap and showed his work in Italy, and since then he has been present in this country as well as in Hong Kong, Portugal and South America, and has also taken part in group exhibitions all over the world. José Morea is currently represented at the Museo de Bellas Artes and the IVAM in Valencia, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo Español de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Barcelona, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Recife (Brazil) and the Museo Salvador Allende in Santiago de Chile, the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Las Palmas, the Pinacoteca do Estado in São Paulo, collections such as AENA, Casa de Velázquez and Argentaria, and foundations such as Telefónica, Coca-Cola and La Caixa de Pensions, among other public and private institutions.
