This male portrait responds to the fauve aesthetic and is linked to the art of Southeast Asia. The synthetic treatment of the figure, as well as the spontaneous and expressive stroke, with brushstrokes that oscillate between the long and straight or circular stroke, as well as the very saturated and unrealistic color are undoubtedly inspired by the pictorial contributions of the post-impressionists, which would later be re-elaborated by the fauvist painters such as Matisse.
