Hidalgo began his training at the School of La Lonja in Barcelona, completing his studies in 1960. Only three years later he was awarded the critics' prize at the Palamós Art Salon, the first of a long series of awards including first prize at the Manresa Painting Biennial (1974) and, on four occasions, the medal of honor at the BMW prize (1993, 1994, 1995 and 1999). He made his individual debut in 1962, in the Barcelona gallery Lleonart, and since then he has shown his work in Madrid, Aachen (Germany); Paris, Brussels and Tokyo, and has participated in important collective exhibitions such as Artexpo in New York.
