Marcela Barceló, daughter of Miquel Barceló, has a great artistic trajectory in spite of her youth. Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions both in France and internationally. She participated in the Biennale de Dessin Contemporain de Paris in 2014 and was awarded the Prix du Dessin Contemporain de las Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2015. Her work is in the collections of the Fondation Louis Vuitton (France), the Xiao Museum (China), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ibiza (Spain), the Cabinet de Dessin des Beaux-Arts de Paris (France), the Fondation Guerlain (France) and the Fonds de Dotation Emerige (France), among others.
Marcella Barceló's pictorial and draftsmanship work is impregnated with her regular trips to Japan and the Buddhist philosophy she discovers. In these psychedelic colors reminiscent of cherry blossoms or dense forests, we find part of the influence of the fantasy of Lewis Caroll. The metaphor of the passage from childhood to adolescence is undoubtedly at the heart of Barceló's work, mixed with this colorful search for the senses and pleasure, even when his figures are ghostly or ephemeral. The universe in which Marcella Barceló's paintings immerse us is fluid: on the border between color and the most intense penumbra, between the strength of perspective and the absence of any rule of construction on the details of her figures. We oscillate, or rather bathe, in a floral imaginary, where nature lulls us to sleep.
Currently, his work is part of important artist collections among which are: LVMH Foundation, Guerlain Foundation, Cabinet de Dessin Jean Bonna, Emerige Endowment Fund, France Xiao Museum, China Museum of Contemporary Art in Ibiza.
