Painter and sculptor, Jaume Busquets i Mollera was formed in the workshops of Joan Llimona and the painter Darius Vilàs. He became friends with Antoni Gaudí, who induced him to decide for religious art. He received numerous commissions for murals for various churches and made several sculptures for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the work of Gaudí: groups of the Nativity and the Annunciation, for the Nativity façade, and the Virgin of Carmen, in the crypt.[3] He also made a recumbent Christ for the church of Santa Maria de Blanes and a Virgin and Child for the façade of the Cathedral of Gerona. He built the main altar and its baldachin for the church of Nuestra Señora de Montealegre in Barcelona, where, years later, he made an alabaster image for the presbytery. In 1955, he frescoed the representation of the Holy Trinity in the apse of the church of Sant Genís de Plegamans. He was director at the School of Art of Villafranca del Panadés and later at the Massana School in Barcelona.
