BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JOAN SOLER JOVÉ (Barcelona, 1934).
"The farewell".
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 35 x 27 cm; 56 x 48 cm (frame).
Painter and draftsman, son of the painter Ramón Soler Liró. From a very young age he showed great ability: in 1951 he participated in the National Competition for children under 16 years old, obtaining the first prize. Throughout his long career Joan Soler Jové has received and continues to receive many awards and recognitions for his work as an artist and his passion for the circus. He was awarded the Manuel Risques Medal three times by the Agrupación de Acuarelistas de Cataluña, in 1958 (urban theme), 1961 (landscape) and 1963 (still life). In 1967 the city council of l'Hospitalet commissioned him a series of urban themes about that city that are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of l'Hospitalet and that served for the realization of several exhibitions, being also presented in Madrid, in the Ministry of Information and Tourism. During the years that he lived in the city of Mallorca, the owner of the Restaurant "Can Tomeu" commissioned him to decorate with his drawings and watercolors the walls of the famous restaurant and neuralgic center of the Mallorcan cultural and social life of the time. Joan Soler Jové held his first individual exhibition in 1953, in the Sala Rovira in Barcelona, presenting a group of watercolors about Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo and El Escorial. In 1958, together with Ramón Noe and Pilar Leita, he presented the exhibition "I Salón de Circo" at the Sala Jaimes in Barcelona, Mataró, Figueres and Palma de Mallorca. Since then he has had more than 200 exhibitions.
