Joan Colomer trained with his father, also a painter, and later studied philosophy and art at the University of Barcelona. He moved to Madrid after finishing his studies, and from there he made a series of trips to the great museums around the world to study the masters of the past. In 1990 he completed his training at the Municipal School of Fine Arts in Madrid. Shortly thereafter he began to exhibit his work, first in Barcelona and Madrid and later also in various cities in the United States, Japan and Italy.
