Ricard Tàrrega, studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Jorge in Barcelona, where he was a student of Josep Mongrell, and at the School of San Fernando in Madrid. In 1927 he traveled to Paris and Amsterdam to further his studies. He excelled in still life and landscape painting, and specialized in the landscapes of the Aragonese High Pyrenees and the Ordesa Valley. He regularly attended the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, where he won the third medal in 1930 with a work entitled Still Life. He also exhibited at the Spring Salon in Barcelona and at the Venice Biennial. In 1931 he founded, with his name, an academy in Barcelona.
