Son of the also painter José María Marqués García, he initiates his formation next to his father. He exhibited frequently in Barcelona from 1912, year of his debut in the room Parés, and in 1914 he entered the School of Joaquín Torres García. There he had as companions Obiols, Aymat, Enric Casanovas and Monegal, among others, and developed an archaizing classicist style typical of the noucentisme of that school. In 1920 he joined the Salón de los Independientes de Barcelona. His favorite themes were mythological or biblical, although he also liked to reflect the landscape and everyday life, captured with the same solemnity, archaizing and symbolic. He exhibited frequently in Barcelona, taking part in outstanding group exhibitions and organizing individual exhibitions such as the one held at the Sala Busquets in 1928, which was very well received by the critics. In 1932 he won the position of drawing teacher in the Municipal Schools of Barcelona.
