The artistic language of José Freixanes moves between abstraction and figuration, and is marked by a strong primitivist character, as can be seen in the bright colors of this composition, in whose delicate surface the chair seems to decompose.

José Freixanes was trained in Bilbao, where he studied Fine Arts, and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, where he furthered his studies thanks to a scholarship from the Provincial Council of Pontevedra. He is linked to the Atlántica movement, and is a member of the Juana Mordó Gallery; currently, in addition to his artistic career, he works at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada as a professor. His work has been exhibited in Santiago de Compostela, Bilbao, Madrid, Vigo, Santander, Ibiza, Damascus (Syria), Casablanca (Morocco), etc.; and it is kept in private collections as well as in some important institutions (MEAC Collection, Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Chase Manhattan Bank Collection in New York, U.N.E.D. Collection (Madrid), Caja Madrid Collection, etc.).
