JOSEP UCLÉS (Badalona, Barcelona, 1952).
"La força es perd per la boca", 1984.
Oil on canvas.
Signed and partially titled on the back.
Possibly it was a larger work.
Measurements: 62 x 54 cm; 68 x 61 cm (frame).
Painter and engraver of self-taught formation, Josep Uclés is one of the most genuinely representative artists of the European neo-figuration, reason for which he was selected by Hans-Jürgen Müller to be represented in the historical exhibition "Europe 79". Held in Stuttgart, Germany, this exhibition represented the beginning of European painting in the eighties, and also included German (Merz, Günter Förg...), English (Stephen Mckenna, John Murphy, Tony Cragg...) and Italian artists (Enzo Cucci, Incola de Maria, Mimmo Paladino, Francesco Clemente...). Currently this exhibition is considered as the end of a progressive sense of art history, imposing a valuation of individuality over trends. As a result of this exhibition, Uclés, who had made his individual debut in 1972 in the Municipal Museums of Badalona and Mataró, would begin his international career, holding solo exhibitions in leading galleries in Basel, Milan, Brussels, Cannes, Paris, Miami, etc. Josep Uclés has been awarded the Medal of the City of Badalona and the Perrier-Jouët de Champagne Society Prize. He is represented in the MACBA and in the Art Funds of Olot, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the newspaper "Avui" of Barcelona.
