José María Molina Ciges was trained at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia, and since his debut in 1965 has held solo exhibitions in Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and other Spanish cities, as well as in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago de Chile, Bordeaux, Paris and New York, the latter city where he lived in 1971. He has also participated in more than one hundred group exhibitions and major art fairs around the world. In 2001 the Valencian government dedicated to him an important anthology that was presented in several cities of the Valencian Community, and in 2004 Molina Ciges held a major exhibition at the Museum of Enlightenment. He is currently represented in numerous public collections, such as the IVAM in Valencia, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Vilafamés, the Conde Duque Center in Madrid, the Salvador Allende Museum in Chile, the International Museum of Lanzarote, the Institute of Hispanic Culture in Madrid, the Museum of Spanish Engraving in Marbella, the Spanish embassies in Brasilia, Bogotá and Abidjan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Palace of Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), the Parador Nacional de Segovia and the collections of Caja de Ahorros de Valencia, Banco Zaragozano, Banco de Vizcaya (Alicante) and Caja Rural de Valencia, as well as in various European and American private collections.
