Maurice Savin was a French painter, ceramist and tapestry maker. He studied art before being recruited by the French army in 1914. He was wounded twice during the First World War, being decorated with the War Cross. After the war, Savin worked as an illustrator for various magazines and newspapers, during which he continued to paint and exhibited in Paris at the Salon d'Automne. In 1933, he began working with ceramics, creating a mural for the town hall of Montélimar in 1936. His works are part of numerous private and public collections.
