DESCRIPTION
MANUEL SAGNIER VIDAL (Barcelona, 1891 - 1976).
"Gorc d'en Barba", 1942.
Oil on panel.
Signed, dated and dedicated in the lower right corner and on the back.
Measurements: 22 x 15 cm; 39 x 33 cm (frame).
Formed in the academy Baixas of Barcelona, in 1931 he debuts individually in the Layetanas Galleries of Barcelona. Later he traveled to expand his studies in several cities in Europe and the United States. After his return he held frequent exhibitions of his works, especially in the Barcelona gallery La Pinacoteca, where he held successive exhibitions between 1955 and 1969, the 1969 exhibition being his last exhibition during his lifetime. He also exhibited at the Rovira Gallery (Barcelona, 1954), the Salón Cano (Madrid, 1956) and the Busquets Gallery (Barcelona, 1961). He participated in the National Exhibitions of 1942, 1944 and 1950, and in 1953 he held an anthological exhibition of his painting. Most of his work is distributed in private collections in Barcelona, Sabadell, Tarragona, Madrid and San Sebastian.
