BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

ANTONIO CABASÉS (Pamplona 1900-1986)- Untitled.
Untitled.
Oil on cardboard.
Precise cleaning.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 36 x 25 cm; 43 x 33 cm (frame).
Self-taught artist, he developed his interest in painting during his stays in Madrid and Barcelona, cities to which he moved to train as a tailor. He took advantage of these years to familiarize himself with the art of his time, training independently and cultivating a personal pictorial sensibility. Although he always considered himself an amateur, his work was recognized on several occasions: he won three Silver Medals in competitions organized by the City Council of Pamplona, as well as receiving several Diplomas of Honor. His work was even selected to participate in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona in 1944.
Throughout his career he held three individual exhibitions in Pamplona, the last one in 1981. Among all of them, one of the most outstanding was the one that took place in January 1948 at the Diputación Foral, where he presented a selection of twenty works that received a favorable reception from both the public and the critics.
The landscape constituted the main axis of his artistic production. He painted with dedication every corner of Pamplona, always working outdoors, convinced that there was a deep connection between the artist and nature. His works are characterized by a refined composition, without formal stridency or chromatic excesses, reflecting a sober and direct vision of the natural environment that surrounded him.
