BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

LOURDES CRESPO LÓPEZ (La Almolda, 1944 - Barcelona, 1991).
Untitled.
Oil on canvas.
Signed.
Measurements: 100 x 80 cm.

He studied at the Academia Cañada in Zaragoza, at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios of Zaragoza and several courses at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Jorge in Barcelona, the city where he lived until his premature death in 1964. His artistic journey includes several phases chained together until ending in a neo-pop as the latest trend. From 1964 to 1966 he has somewhat geometric abstractions with glazes and the main theme, such as still lifes, etc.. He suppresses all perspective, which will be a constant in all his work. His neo-figuration, 1967-1968, is enhanced by inanimate faces of naive nuance, while during 1969 thick figures appear accompanied by a strong eroticism. Since 1970 his neo-surrealism, with a monochrome background and geometric bands, is characterized by female faces reminiscent of the Renaissance, working on themes such as female eroticism, gestation or the birth of man. If in 1972 he allows himself to be carried away by figures with a pre-Raphaelite air, during 1973 and 1974 he structures the support with an exact geometry that floods it with dismembered figures, while during 1975 he focuses on the fragmentation of the human anatomy. After a short phase, 1976, in which he returns to his admiration for Renaissance painting, as well as Hellenic faces and even pop art, an expressionism, always latent, hard and aggressive, perhaps because of its vitalism, is accompanied by gestural strokes. Recalling that for years he has been showing fragments of the human anatomy, his neo-pop picks up this concept and expands it. He also has full-body figures, such as some nude self-portraits, but here he is interested in this thematic accentuation, such as a bag, a coffee pot, the tiptoed feet of a female figure kissing a man whose feet are the only ones visible, etc. Everything acquires a spectacular attraction, which is multiplied by two planes, of very contrasting colors, as the only background, of large planes for the theme itself and of a strong coloring that fuses to perfection.
