Jaume Muxart begins his formation in the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona. In 1947 he exhibits for the first time at the Pictòria Gallery in Barcelona. Between 1952 and 1955 he lived in Rome, with a scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Culture. He was part of the Taüll group, and held exhibitions all over Spain, as well as in foreign cities such as Cairo, Rome, New York, Tokyo, Stockholm, London, São Paulo and Copenhagen. His awards include the Torres-García medal, the Juan Gris award, the medal of honor at the First Biennial of Sport, the Diputación de Barcelona and the Ciutat de Barcelona. In 1991 he became a member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, and later became a professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, a position he has held since 1979. Muxart's works are preserved in the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Contemporary Art Museums of Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City and Alexandria, the Fine Arts Museums of Long Island (New York) and Bilbao, the Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim in New York and the Lissone in Milan, among many others.
