John William Godward was a painter associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, as we see in this painting, which is a version of his work "Julia" (1914). His paintings often depicted timelessly beautiful young women in classical Greco-Roman settings, with satin robes, long hair and contemplative poses. He took special care to recreate in detail the fabrics, architecture and accessories, as well as the serene atmosphere of his paintings. The version we show here captures this precious will.
