Aurelio Pescina introduces us in a festive scene of deep popular roots, represented with a visual warmth and a chromatic vitality that refer immediately to the traditional celebrations of the towns of Mexico. In the center of the composition, numerous human figures are grouped around a set of colorful balloons rising into the sky. Far from seeking a realistic or academic representation of the scene, Pescina consciously adopts a naïve or primitivist plastic language, characterized by formal simplification, the absence of classical linear depth and an intentional naivety that emphasizes the emotional over the rational.
The treatment of perspective responds to this particular aesthetic: the proportions of the characters do not follow a traditional hierarchical or anatomical order, but are adapted to the visual rhythm of the pictorial narrative. This decision, far from being a technical limitation, constitutes a stylistic choice that allows the artist to reinforce the sensation of spontaneity, closeness and authenticity. The use of color in the work is particularly relevant. Pescina employs a vibrant, saturated and warm palette, which not only evokes the spirit of the festivity, but also alludes to a vision of the world deeply rooted in the Mexican popular sensibility, where color is not an adornment, but a fundamental expressive language.
