Joan Capella Arenas was a Spanish painter and muralist.
In 1945, in his youth, he is a founding member of Tertulia, a group that until its dissolution in 1957 energizes the cultural life of Moncada and Reixach and surroundings.
He obtains the first prize of his career in 1953, in Barcelona, when he wins the Santa Dorotea Prize for landscape painting, which opens the doors of prestigious Catalan institutions, the Real Círculo Artístico or the Ateneo Barcelonés.
Thus begins a numerous series of exhibitions, both individual and collective, especially in the Catalan area, but also Spanish and international.
In 1955 he participates in the III Bienal Hispanoamericana de Arte. And he is a regular at the Salones de Mayo organized in the Catalan capital in the fifties and sixties. In the mid-seventies he became a member of the group of painters of the Syra Gallery in Barcelona, and in 1985 he joined the Sala Dalmau in Barcelona, a gallery specializing in the School of Paris. Capella remained linked to it until the end of his days. Thanks to the Sala Dalmau, he was able to know first hand this movement as well as some of its members such as Juan Alcalde or Javier Vilató.
