Joan Ferrer Vallbona, specialist in landscape painting also known as Queraltó, is the most prolific artist of the Baixa Segarra in the second half of the 20th century. He made 168 paintings set in Santa Coloma de Queralt, and a dozen representations of Santa Perpètua de Gaià and the mountain of Sant Miquel respectively. In addition to landscape painting, Ferrer Vallbona also produced forty-nine abstract or informalist compositions, which according to biographer Joan Sendra were linked to or inspired by "the landscape of his factory and his looms".
