This painting, loaded with vibrant colors, cross-references and an iconography that exudes cultural irreverence, acts as a libérrimo homage to the pop art of the sixties and the Madrid movida of the eighties. The scene is constructed as an apparent pictorial collage, where the iconic, the kitsch and the everyday are intertwined in a theatrical space framed by open curtains, which underline the scenic and performative character of the painting. In the foreground, a tiger displays its feline silhouette as a symbol of power and urban exoticism. It is flanked by the figures of Alaska and Mario, emblematic of the Movida madrileña, whose image anchors the painting in a specific time, between cultural transgression and the exaltation of the popular. The background takes us back to the origins of pop with a portrait of Andy Warhol, as a wink of complicity and aesthetic genealogy. On two tables arranged laterally, the pop universe is intensified: on one rests a Barbie doll, paradigm of mass culture and consumption, and on the other a doll dressed in a skull costume, in ironic contrast between the trivial and the macabre. The scene is completed by the figure of Hello Kitty, emblem of globalized pop culture, which provides a naïve counterpoint.
