Begoña Izquierdo was a Spanish figurative painter. She was born in Bilbao, where she lived until 1948, when she moved to Madrid to study painting at the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. There she made good friends among her classmates, such as Luis Feito, Julio López Hernández, Julián Martín de Vidales, Manuel Méndez, César Montaña and Lucio Muñoz. In 1954, she obtained the official title of Professor of Drawing, specializing in painting and engraving. She held her first exhibition with the painter and engraver Carmen Arozena in 1957, from then on she did not stop making solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad. In 1963 he temporarily dedicated himself to illustration, making drawings for children's books, La Estafeta Literaria, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, etc. It was in 1965 when he obtained the March pension and won the Abril de Pintura prize.
