A painter, illustrator and writer of great social commitment, Juan Gomis was president of Justícia i Pau de Barcelona since 1976, and also chaired Justícia i Pau in Spain, the Federació Catalana d'ONG per la Pau, as well as being one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament. Among other awards, he received the Carles Cardó and Francesc Eximenis narrative awards, the Serra i Moret essay award and the Joan XXIII Memorial for his work in favor of peace.
