DESCRIPTION
FRANCESC SILLUÉ RAMONEDA (Barcelona, 1936).
"Place Furstenberg, Paris", 1979.
Oil on canvas.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 82 x 101 cm; 105 x 125 cm (frame).
Sillué began his training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, and later continued at the School of Fine Arts. In 1959 he moved to Paris, where he visited museums and came into contact with French artists. His first individual exhibition took place in 1962, at the Philips Gallery in Paris. During these years he held exhibitions in Paris, Marseilles, New York and Detroit. Between 1965 and 1969 he lived in Norway and Sweden where his work, following the impressionist principles, was very well received. After this period he settled in London, where he discovered street markets, since then a favorite theme in his compositions. Since 1982 he alternated his exhibitions between London, Norway, Catalonia and Madrid (his first exhibition in Spain in 1977), although soon after he settled definitively in Sitges. In 1989 he was awarded the Valentí prize for painting.
