Magí Puig was formed in the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi of Barcelona, and later he will settle down in the locality of Tárrega, where he lives and works at the present time. He became known in the eighties, and in 1988 he held his first solo exhibition at the Bertran Diagonal gallery in Barcelona. From then on his presence will be constant in various Catalan galleries and also in Madrid, Montpelier, Pézenas, Paris and New York. Among these solo exhibitions, the one held in 2008 at the Sala Parés in Barcelona, the only Catalan gallery with which Puig works regularly, and which also awarded him the Young Painting Prize in 1992. Also in 2008, the Ariel Sibony gallery in Paris, where he has been exhibiting regularly since 2003, paid tribute to him with a retrospective exhibition of his work from the last fifteen years. Puig has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions, both in Spain and in Italy, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, and in various competitions, being awarded on numerous occasions. Particularly noteworthy are the First Prize for Painting of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Lleida (1990) and the acquisition prizes of the National Exhibition of Valdepeñas (1994 and 1996).
