DESCRIPTION
JOSEP MARIA VILÀ CAÑELLAS (Vic, Osona, 1914-Barcelona, 2001).

Signed in the lower margin.
Measurements: 38,5 x 46 cm; 60 x 68 cm (frame).
Painter and draftsman, formed in the School of Fine Arts of Olot, disciple of Juan Colom, Ivo Pascual and Emilio Bosch Roger. He exhibited alone in Barcelona very often since 1941, and was awarded in the national exhibition of Madrid in 1948 (Vic Market). He cultivated an impressionism often focused on water effects, with a skillful and simplified stroke. He won several awards. He began to participate in group exhibitions in 1932, celebrating his first individual exhibitions in the Barcino room in Barcelona, and in the Gaspar (1941-1942). Among his awards are Third Medal in the National Fine Arts of 1948 (Vic Market), the Prize of the Contest "Landscape of Llavaneras" in 1950, Gold Medal Masriera in 1953, etc..
