This view of Amsterdam by Frederic Lloveras offers a personal and expressionist interpretation of the historical urban landscape, centered on the emblematic architecture of staggered facades that characterizes the city. The buildings are arranged in a frontal, almost theatrical sequence, where each volume is individualized by means of color and black drawing that outlines contours, windows and roofs, giving the whole a marked graphic character.
The sky, worked with large patches of grays, pinks and ochers, contributes to a somewhat melancholic atmosphere, balancing the liveliness of the facades with a more restrained tone. In this work, Lloveras does not seek topographic fidelity, but rather to capture the urban spirit of Amsterdam, combining memory, emotion and formal synthesis in a painting with a strong plastic personality and a clear modern vocation.
Lloveras' work is present in the Diocesan Museum of Barcelona, the Museum of Watercolor in Llançà, the Julio Quesada Museum in Crevillent and the Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago de Chile, among others.
