"Landscape".

Landscape composition of synthetic and abstract character, characteristic of the most modern production of the artist. The landscape is suggested by color and structure, transmitting a luminous and essential atmosphere, constructed from wide chromatic strips and undulating forms.
Although academically trained as an architect in Madrid and furthering his studies in Paris and New York thanks to a scholarship, Joaquín Vaquero Palacios always considered himself first and foremost a painter, an activity he maintained constantly throughout his life.
His career was widely recognized with important awards, including the First Medal of Architecture at the National Exhibition of 1930, the First Medal of Fine Arts in 1952, the Asturias Award and the Gold Medal of the First Art Fair of Santander in 1992. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and the RIDEA, and exhibited internationally in cities such as Venice, Milan, Rome, Madrid and New Orleans. His work is preserved in prominent buildings, public spaces and in collections and institutions of the first order, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, consolidating its position as an essential reference of Spanish artistic modernity.
