DESCRIPTION
FRANCESC D'ASSÍS CASADEMONT POU (Barcelona, 1923 - Gerona, 2007).
"Parc del Chateau de Vascoeil, Normandie", June 1980.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed on the front, titled and dated on the back.
Measurements: 72 x 60 cm; 74 x 61 cm (frame).
Painted in 1980, this work reflects the artist's interest in the landscapes of northern Europe and his ability to translate them into a personal language, close to lyrical abstraction, but always anchored in the direct experience of the place. Parc del Château de Vascoeuil is a representative piece of his late painting, characterized by compositional serenity, economy of means and a profound spatial sensitivity.
Francesc d'Assís Casademont has been one of those artists capable of creating his own unmistakable style. In 1962 he held his first solo exhibition in Barcelona, and since then he has shown his work in international galleries. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona, and in 1994 he was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi. He is currently represented at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the National Museum of Graz in Puerto Rico and the Musée d'Etampes in Paris, among others.
