Although born in Cartagena, Rafael Rosés developed his artistic career in Barcelona. Painter and sculptor, he was formed in the School of Arts and Trades of the condal city first, to later extend his studies in the Superior of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. There he won a travel grant that took him to visit various Spanish regions. He was part of the Lucerna Group, attending all the exhibitions organized by this group. He was awarded the Lucerne Medal in 1948, in the category of painting, and in 1950 he was distinguished with the Third San Jordi Prize of the Diputación de Barcelona. He was also a member of the Betepocs group, in whose acts he took part since 1944. He has also made mural work, of expressionist character, having decorated some chapels of Barcelona temples such as Nuestra Señora de la Ayuda and Nuestra Señora de la Salud, among other commissions. He has participated in various biennials and competitions, such as the one organized by the Barcelona Football Club in 1985.
